How to Plan the Perfect Halloween Party
Who doesn’t love an awesome Halloween party? The cobwebs, caramel apples, and ghostly decor are the perfect introduction to the holiday season. But a lot goes into planning a frightfully fabulous party. From the foods to the music, creating a creepy but sophisticated atmosphere takes work. Luckily for you, we are going to break down exactly what you need to throw the most spooktastic Halloween party ever.
Choose Your Theme
Traditional witches and ghosts? Zombies-galore? Or a monster ball? The theme is essential for tying your party together. Do you want your guests showing up in whatever costume they choose? Or would you rather them arrive in their best zombie-esque celebrity impersonations? Whether you choose the traditional route or something more out of the box, your decor should reflect your theme.
Choose candles, decorate pumpkins, and add festive accessories that really sell the theme you’re going for. Just remember, if you go the traditional route you have more options when it comes to decor and sticking to a budget. However, if you choose a particular theme like a monster ball, you’ll want monster-inspired decor and music. Plus, having everyone show up with a common costume will make for a more cohesive party.
Your theme might also depend on how many guests you are planning to invite. If you’re planning on having a large gathering, make sure that you have enough chairs and tables so that everyone can be comfortable. Using tall cocktail tables with a bowl of candy will keep guests happy throughout the evening.
Decorations
No Halloween party is complete without the right decorations. Luckily, so many stores are filled with Halloween decor and candy that you will have no problem finding what you need. You’ll want to start with the basics - plates, cups, napkins and utensils. Don’t forget the streamers and balloons! (Tip- white balloons make great looking ghosts.)
Also, what’s a Halloween party without PUMPKINS? Carve or paint pumpkins small and large to match the theme of your party, add a candle and BAM instant mood setter. You’ll also want to add any hanging decor, cobwebs, or signs to you decor as well. Trust us, cobwebs go a long way and make any Halloween party pop!
We cannot say enough about dry ice at a party. Dry ice added in cauldrons can definitely make a party that much more festive. Have a friend with a fog machine? Borrow it for an added creepy effect.
Don’t forget to decorate outside either. Tombstones, spiders, and bats make great outdoor decor. You’re guests will be in party mode from the moment they step through the door.
Food
Halloween-themed food is a huge favorite of ours. Whether it’s cookies, cupcakes, mummies, dirt pudding or gummy worms there is a surplus of food that is appropriate for an awesome Halloween party. You can turn almost any food into a creepy, crawly festive treat.
Also, don’t forget the candy! Cauldrons make great candy holders. Create an awesome punch (spiked if you like), add candy worms or fake bugs and there ya go!
Whatever the theme or the decor make sure you have enough seating and an awesome food table setup. Your guests will want to take a break now and then to take a seat or enjoy a treat.
